~ Reney 3 Timothy 3:16 – Use of the scripture All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, Malachi 2:7 – Responsibility of the Priest “For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge, because he is the messenger of the Lord Almighty and people seek instruction from his mouth. Acts 6:2-3 – Allocating church responsibility In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. 2 So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, “It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. 3 Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them 4 and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.” 1: the number of people was increasing and (Acts 4) the disciples did a lot of charity work which led them to more responsibilities. 2: Always put God’s words first then charity. They were going down in ministry work, so the disciples took action and selected seven men who were: 3: “Full of spirit and wisdom” 4: and will give our attention to prayer and ministry of word The priest spreads the word of God, believers to listen to the word of God (Satan knows this well) Acts 16:17 Satan know Christian’s duty “She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved.” 2 Timothy 2:1-9 You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.2 And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. 3 Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.5 Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules.6 The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. 7 Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this.8 Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, 9 for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s word is not chained. 4: No one serving as a soldier gets entangled with civilian affairs 5: Anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victory crown except by competing according to the rules: Eg. Daniel gave a letter to Yahab go five instructions to put Urihab at the front line of the battle: Matthew 6:33 -What we ought to seek “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.“
Gospel and Healing
10/12/2023 – by Sheena TOPIC VERSE – Romans 2:15-16 15 They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.) 16 This will take place on the day when God judges people’s secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares. In this verse, we can see that the day will come when the secrets of men will be judged according to the gospel of God and all the secrets will come out on the day of judgment. Hebrews: 9.27 “…..So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment“. Here, two things are definitely said to happen to humans: 1) Death is for all men. 2) Judgment is for all men. Likewise, he already came once for sinners. But, he will no longer come for sinners. For instance: The two thieves who were with Jesus on the cross. Matthew: 28:18-19 – What is God’s desire for us here on earth? “18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,“ 1) Preach the gospel to every man. 2)Baptize those who believe the gospel in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. 3)Make disciples of all by doing whatever God has commanded you to do. 2 Timothy 3:16 – Usefulness of the Bible “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” 2 Timothy 3:12 – Christians and persecution “In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” It can be seen that the people who will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. God will give to us the rewards and remuneration for what we do in Jesus name. That’s why Bible says that… “the wages are in His hand and the reward is with Him” AMEN
The Chosen Ones
Let’s look into who God has chosen and what is the purpose of the chosen ones. 1 Corinthians 1:27-28 NKJV “But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;28 and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are,” We have different perceptions about people but we see that Jesus chose the weak ones of the society to do great things for His kingdom. God could have used the wealthy and the highly qualified ones, but he hand-picked the unusual group of people who included fishermen and the low cast within the society. Those lives and legacy are still learned and written by the scholars. The only candidacy of these 12 men is that they walked with Jesus. The responsibility of the Chosen Ones – is to proclaim the gospel What is the gospel? Gospel is a person (Jesus), the forgiveness of our sins and the salvation that we obtain through Jesus. Peter’s sermon was solely based on Jesus Christ (gospel) in Acts 2, Acts 2:37 NKJV “Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”” *Where the true gospel is preached there would be a deep transformation* like the first church and the prophecy of Joel. Why do we proclaim the gospel? Romans 2:15-16 NKJV “who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them) in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.” Practical example of building a house. Unless the foundation of a building is established the other materials like the tiles, doorframe or even bricks are not of any value or use. How is God going to judge people who live in different dispensations? The Old Testament believers had the law of God inbuilt in them and would be judged by the law. Maps were being used a few years ago, which is now replaced by navigation systems which are inbuilt into most of the vehicles which help us to reach our destination. God has given us the route map through His Word to reach the final destination as it says in the below verse I Corinthians 1:17 NKJV “For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.” the focus of many churches has turned to worship only, we need to encourage and promote the importance of preaching and practising the word of God. So who is wise according to the Bible? Let’s look at the below three verses! Daniel 12:3 NKJV “Those who are wise shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn many to righteousness Like the stars forever and ever.” Psalms 14:2 NKJV “The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God.” Matthew 7:24-27 NKJV “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” If the foundation is built on the rock who is Jesus Christ, the storms of this world cannot stop or worry us of any harm. Let us understand and make sure that we accomplish the purpose for which he has chosen in this pilgrim journey to our eternal home.
Holy God
Gospel message is not: (it all part but not the sole purpose) 2 Corinthians 11:4 This is another gospel For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough. Why people do not listen when the Gospel is shared? Whilst preachers are praying for new thoughts, they need to pray for help from God to live the word of God. God knows who will be able to withstand suffering for his name Father the God 1 Peter 1:16-17 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” 17 Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear. Most people who spread the Gospel through preaching does not have God’s calling You can not serve both God and Money
Can Salvation be lost?
Philippians 1:6 – Salvation – but this is about works being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. 1 Corinthians 6:2 – Why we share the Gospel? “Or do you not know that the Lord’s people will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases?” David pleading to restore his Joy Salvation Psalms 51:12 – David asking to restore the joy of salvation “Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.” Saul losing his Spirit 1 Samuel 13:13 – Saul disobeying God’s command “You have done a foolish thing,” Samuel said. “You have not kept the command the Lord your God gave you; if you had, he would have established your kingdom over Israel for all time 1 Samuel 16:14 – Saul lost his salvation “Now the Spirit of the Lord had departed from Saul, and an evil[a] spirit from the Lord tormented him.” Adam and Eve reasoning Genesis 3:12-13 The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.” 13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” Revelation 5:9 – Price been paid (his Son on the cross) And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.“ 1 Peter 1:18-19 Spotless (was perfect) 18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. Hebrew 7:26 – Our High Priest “Such a high priest truly meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.“
Salivation
Luke 3:38 – Adam the son of God “the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.“ 2 Peter 3:9 God’s promise “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” Church = Those who obey his commandment and lead a holy life Acts 2:47 Church = Saved people of God “praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” Romans 10:9 – How can one be saved? “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Repentance – must to get into heaven Saved – to be added to the church Romans 10:9 “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we[a] have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,“ Genesis 3:24 Humans evicted from the Garden “After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.“ Luke 15:11 Prodigal son 20- “and he rose” being proactive 21 – Repentance 22 – transformation (Change in appearance)
Redemption from Sin
Genesis 42:10 – Sin follows you “No, my lord,” they answered. “Your servants have come to buy food.” – Joseph’s brother coming to Egypt 2 Peter 3:9 God delay his second coming for people to repent “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” Psalms 90:10 – Our life is hardship “Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures;yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.“ 1 John 4:1 – Test the spirit “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” 1 Corinthians 11:4 – Different spirits “For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.“ We do not have our way because it will not prosper and we will continue with futile wishes and prayers James 4:3 Praying with wrong intension “When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” Proverbs 23: 4-5 Wealth “Do not wear yourself out to get rich; do not trust your own cleverness.5 Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.“ Jeremiah 17:11 Money that is not earned “Like a partridge that hatches eggs it did not lay are those who gain riches by unjust means. When their lives are half gone, their riches will desert them, and in the end they will prove to be fools.“ Oxygen cost £200 for 3 days, for a month more than £2,000 yet is a free resources that God has given us. Why did not God forgive Adam and Eve in the garden: Clothing -> God’s grace -> A sacrifice was made to redeem from sin Only one who have not sin, can tell other not to sin! John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.“ Romans 5:1 “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we[a] have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” Isaiah 53 prophecy about Jesus and his mistreatment
Sin and its reign
Genesis 2:25 – Adam and Eve were both naked “Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.” Genesis 3:7 – Realization of their nakedness “Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.” Eat the fruit, can be considered a small sin. But due to that, the next generation will be more lost Romans 6:12 Do not let sin regin in your body “Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.“ 1 John 3:1 Worthy to be a Children of God “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” 2 Timothy 3:1 Signs of the last times “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.” Proverbs 30:11 – Children mistreating parents “There are those who curse their fathers and do not bless their mothers“
Turning away from God
Romans 1:20 “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.“ Galatians 3:2 “I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard?“ Romans 1:21 Believers not honoring God “For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.“ Romans 5:1 – Justified by Faith “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” John 1:34 – John hears God calling Jesus his Son “I have seen and I testify that this is God’s Chosen One“ Romans 1:28 Those who doesnt want to put on Christ “Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.” Romans 1:29-32 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. Psalms 50:16-21 But to the wicked person, God says: “What right have you to recite my laws or take my covenant on your lips?17 You hate my instruction and cast my words behind you.18 When you see a thief, you join with him; you throw in your lot with adulterers.19 You use your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit.20 You sit and testify against your brother and slander your own mother’s son.21 When you did these things and I kept silent, you thought I was exactly like you.But I now arraign you and set my accusations before you.
Blessing and Suffering
One Death and then Judgement: Death for Christians is a resting period (Daniel 12:2 – “Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.”) Enoch and Elijah both has not experience death, so the two witnesses mentioned could be them (Revelation 11:3 – And I will appoint my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.”) Genesis 1:23 “Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” Genesis 2:7 “Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.“ Worldly blessing = not into eternal life Matthew 6:10 – Seek the kingdom of God and rest all is given to you. “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Genesis 15 – Abraham’s lack of Faith Acts 5:44 Suffering which result into bless “The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.“
