Genesis 42:10 – Sin follows you “No, my lord,” they answered. “Your servants have come to buy food.” – Joseph’s brother coming to Egypt 2 Peter 3:9 God delay his second coming for people to repent “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” Psalms 90:10 – Our life is hardship “Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures;yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.“ 1 John 4:1 – Test the spirit “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” 1 Corinthians 11:4 – Different spirits “For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.“ We do not have our way because it will not prosper and we will continue with futile wishes and prayers James 4:3 Praying with wrong intension “When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” Proverbs 23: 4-5 Wealth “Do not wear yourself out to get rich; do not trust your own cleverness.5 Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.“ Jeremiah 17:11 Money that is not earned “Like a partridge that hatches eggs it did not lay are those who gain riches by unjust means. When their lives are half gone, their riches will desert them, and in the end they will prove to be fools.“ Oxygen cost £200 for 3 days, for a month more than £2,000 yet is a free resources that God has given us. Why did not God forgive Adam and Eve in the garden: Clothing -> God’s grace -> A sacrifice was made to redeem from sin Only one who have not sin, can tell other not to sin! John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.“ Romans 5:1 “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we[a] have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” Isaiah 53 prophecy about Jesus and his mistreatment
Sin and its reign
Genesis 2:25 – Adam and Eve were both naked “Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.” Genesis 3:7 – Realization of their nakedness “Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.” Eat the fruit, can be considered a small sin. But due to that, the next generation will be more lost Romans 6:12 Do not let sin regin in your body “Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.“ 1 John 3:1 Worthy to be a Children of God “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” 2 Timothy 3:1 Signs of the last times “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.” Proverbs 30:11 – Children mistreating parents “There are those who curse their fathers and do not bless their mothers“
Turning away from God
Romans 1:20 “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.“ Galatians 3:2 “I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard?“ Romans 1:21 Believers not honoring God “For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.“ Romans 5:1 – Justified by Faith “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” John 1:34 – John hears God calling Jesus his Son “I have seen and I testify that this is God’s Chosen One“ Romans 1:28 Those who doesnt want to put on Christ “Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.” Romans 1:29-32 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. Psalms 50:16-21 But to the wicked person, God says: “What right have you to recite my laws or take my covenant on your lips?17 You hate my instruction and cast my words behind you.18 When you see a thief, you join with him; you throw in your lot with adulterers.19 You use your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit.20 You sit and testify against your brother and slander your own mother’s son.21 When you did these things and I kept silent, you thought I was exactly like you.But I now arraign you and set my accusations before you.
Blessing and Suffering
One Death and then Judgement: Death for Christians is a resting period (Daniel 12:2 – “Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.”) Enoch and Elijah both has not experience death, so the two witnesses mentioned could be them (Revelation 11:3 – And I will appoint my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.”) Genesis 1:23 “Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” Genesis 2:7 “Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.“ Worldly blessing = not into eternal life Matthew 6:10 – Seek the kingdom of God and rest all is given to you. “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Genesis 15 – Abraham’s lack of Faith Acts 5:44 Suffering which result into bless “The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.“
Paul’s Concerns about the Church
2 Corinthians 11:1-3 “I hope you will put up with me in a little foolishness. Yes, please put up with me! 2 I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. 3 But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.“ PAUL LOVE FOR HIS CHURCH! 3: Eve had fellowship with God himself, serpent still managed to deceive her so her careful. 1 Timothy 2:13-14 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. SIN = SEPARATION FROM GOD – Role of leaders is to correct Psalms 51:19 – Redemption “Then you will delight in the sacrifices of the righteous, in burnt offerings offered whole; then bulls will be offered on your altar.“
Acts 17:16 16 While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, he was greatly distressed to see that the city was full of idols. Saints: people who are saved with separation and holy life Psalms 50:5 “Gather to me this consecrated people, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice.” 1 Corinthians 8:10 10 For if someone with a weak conscience sees you, with all your knowledge, eating in an idol’s temple, won’t that person be emboldened to eat what is sacrificed to idols? Paul is a great example showcasing someone who had world assets however when he came to Christ he found it all to be worthless. Paul had knowledge, power and wealth: Philippians 3:1-4 “Further, my brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord! It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you. 2 Watch out for those dogs, those evildoers, those mutilators of the flesh. 3 For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh— 4 though I have reasons for such confidence. If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more“ 7 But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 2 Corthianian 5:1 – Body is a tent “For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.“ Paul’s knowledge – part of the council, knew the book of Moses went to Athens and spoke in greek. Idol food (1 Corinthian 8:8) 8 But food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.
Curses
Deuteronomy 23:5 “However, the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam but turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you.“ Job 1:10 “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land.” Luke 22:31 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” 2 Corinthian 2:7 “or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me.” Food and Curses A question was raised: Can we food that has been sacrificed for another God? Does satan have power? the answer is yes, but it can not overpower a child of God. 1 Samuel 17:43 “He said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.” Food can be consumer if you do not have the knowledge of where the food is from: 1 Corinthians 10 Joshua 24:15 5 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 5:14-15 “I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people—10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world.“
Relationship with God
Luke 15:20 “So he got up and went to his father.” The prodigal son would have stayed in the same pig farm and starved if he had not gotten up and gone to his father. THINKING -> PRACTICAL Once he returns to his father, he leaves his old ways. Isaiah 59:1 “Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear.“ Listen! The Lord is not too weak to save you, and he is not becoming deaf. He can hear you when you call. But there is a problem, your sin has cut you off from God. Because of your sin, he has turned away and does not hear you. Exodus 32:33 “The Lord replied to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against me I will blot out of my book.” If God can write your name in the Book of Life, he can remove your name too.

The New Testament teaches us that evil spells or curses do not have an impact on a believer, as Jesus Christ has taken our sins and curses on the cross and set us free. Galatians 3:13 “Oh, foolish Galatians! Who has cast an evil spell on you? For the meaning of Jesus Christ’s death was made as clear to you as if you had seen a picture of his death on the cross.” 1 Peter 2:24 “He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds, you are healed.” Due to the sinful nature of the human from Adam, we were doomed and deserved to die as a sinner however God out of his love, paved the way through Christ to have communion with us again. Isaiah 53:4 “Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins!” Isaiah 53:9 ‘He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man’s grave.” The greatest downfall and resistance to humans is sin. Hebrew 7:26 “He is the kind of high priest we need because he is holy and blameless, unstained by sin. He has been set apart from sinners and has been given the highest place of honour in heaven.” The perfect sacrifice by who was “Holy, blameless…” the only one who can intercede for us for our sins “This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.” ~ Hebrew 4:15 “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” ~ 2 Cor 5:21 2 Peter 2:21-22 Knowing Christ and turning back “21 It would be better if they had never known the way to righteousness than to know it and then reject the command they were given to live a holy life.22 They prove the truth of this proverb: “A dog returns to its vomit.” And another says, “A washed pig returns to the mud.” Luke 15:21 Parable of the prodigal son “21 His son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. 22: “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate. The son made the decision and made his way to the father. Decision without action is meaning less. As we can see the father was waiting for the son’s return. Son believed he did not deserve to be welcomed back, similarly, we have not deserved salvation. However, it is only with Jesus’s sacrifice we are able to stand in front of God. The son came in front of the father with a poor outfit. And the first thing after receiving his was to change his appearance, similarly, we need to be transformed our way of life and appearance to be in the presence of God. John 1:12 Who has the right to be called Children of God ” But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.”
7th August 2023 – Faith
Galatians 3:13 “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” Hebrew 4:2 “For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.“ Scripture without sharing the faith is not beneficial. As christians it is our great commission to share the Good News we received and encourage other to have the relationship with God. Act 2:14 “Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.“ Peter who denied Christ and ran away, once he understood and received the Holy Spirit. The same Peter who spoke against Christ stood in front of thousands abs shared the Good news and baptised others. Mat 26:15 “And asked, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver.“ Judas bargaining to betray Christ, like wise many Christians are bargaining Christ in this day and age. We need to understand there is nothing more valuable than what Christ offers. This is seen by Zacchaeus who gave everything he had once he truly knew the value of Christ: Luke 19:8 “But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.” 3: ” He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd.” He was intrigued to see who was Christ 4: “So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.” Zacchaeus made the effort to climb the tree to see Jesus, therefore it show the dedication and commitment we way able to endure to see Jesus. 9: “Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham.” Jesus can be taken into any home, compared to some leaders who are not worthy to be welcomed. Zacchaeus desired to know Christ and because of this desire Christ came and stay over at his house. In this story we can learn that once you have truly received Christ you do not value anything of this world instead you will give away your world valuables as you will be prioritising the kingdom of heaven! Mark 5:25-33 Jesus heals the sick women Many people have touched Jesus, but when it is done by faith there is power which you receive. Often as humans we sometimes see the problem that we face to be greater than Christ. This can be seen when the disciples being afraid of the strom when Jesus was in the boat with them. Once they had the knowledge of the power of Christ then are able to stay composed during the storm which life brings and even lift others in their own personal storm. 1 Peter 4:17 “For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?”
